The problem we solve
70%
of architecturally designed homes never make it to construction.
Industry estimate
Design it once. Build it once. No wasted years, no redesign loop.
The architect blames the builder. The builder shrugs at the architect. And you are left in the middle, wondering who in this process is thinking about you. We built Hallbar to end that. By bringing the builder in before the first line is drawn, cost is tested against your budget at every decision, so the design stays buildable from day one.

Selected work
Homes built to perform, and to put our name to.
A farmhouse under Brown Mountain. A 1920s cottage made new again. A renovation stripped back to bricks and frame. Every brief is different, but every project here was built the same way: to hold its temperature, and with Patrik on site from the first meeting to handover.

How a Hallbar home performs
We do not just say “energy efficient.” We build it in.
- 01
Airtight, well-insulated envelope
European construction principles applied to Australian coastal conditions, so the house holds its temperature instead of leaking it.
- 02
Thermally broken double glazing
The windows work with the build, not against it. Quiet, warm in winter, cool through summer.
- 03
Considered ventilation and healthier air
Passive house principles mean fresh, filtered air and far lower running costs over the life of the home.

On site, and in the loop
You will always know where your build is at.
Patrik is on site through the build, not behind a project manager on a volume line. You follow every stage in Wonderbuild, our project management software, message Patrik directly, and see decisions documented as they happen. On site, we use the tech that keeps every detail precise. Not an old-school builder.
- 01
First conversation
A no-pressure chat about your site, your brief and where you are in the process.
- 02
Engage early
We come in before the design is locked. Builder-led, before you commit.
- 03
Architect alignment
Work with your architect, or be introduced to a trusted partner.
- 04
Design to budget
Cost tested at every meaningful decision through concept and approvals.
- 05
Build and handover
A fixed-price HIA or MBA contract, Patrik on site, and a relationship that lasts beyond completion.
A detailed estimate with no provisional sums hiding extra costs, then a formal HIA or MBA fixed-price contract, so you can plan with confidence.
Patrik Bergman, FounderOur story
Meet Patrik.
I started Hallbar with a simple conviction: that homes on the South Coast could be built to a higher standard than the industry took for granted. Drawing on my Swedish heritage, where homes are designed to perform in some of the most demanding climates on earth, I kept seeing the same thing here. Homes leaking energy, built to a minimum code that European builders would treat as a starting point.
I decided that if my name was going on a build, it would be built the way I believe homes should be: airtight, considered, and fit for the lives lived inside them.
